Emma Watson is a Badass.

Emma Watson, the young actress who played the character of Hermione in the Harry Potter movie series, continually impresses me with her coolness.  She has truly grown up to be an intelligent, grounded, and compassionate young woman.

The latest thing that she's done to impress me is to give a speech against gender inequality this past weekend.  She wants to help inspire men to help bring equality about, as it affects them negatively as well.  She said, "I've seen my father's role as a parent being valued less by society despite my needing his presence, as a child, as much as my mother's. I've seen young men suffering from mental illness, unable to ask for help, for fear it would make them ... less of a man. ... I've seen men made fragile and insecure by a distorted sense of what constitutes male success. Men don't have the benefits of equality, either."

As they say in England:  Brilliant!

Why can't we all just be who we are, and be supported in that?  Girls can be strong and driven and not just be a 'bossy bitch', men can relax about showing more emotion in public?

I also love how she says, "The more I've spoken about feminism, the more I have realized that fighting for women's rights has too often become synonymous with man-hating.  If there is one thing I know for certain, it is that this has to stop."  Yeah, what the heck was up with all of the hub-bub that has gone down lately--all having to do with a whole generation of women misunderstanding the true definition of what feminism is.  It's not man-hating; it's about freedom--freedom from limits and judgements, and oppressive, outdated ways of relating to women.  Listen women friends, it's all about us telling our personal truths and sticking to our ideals, ALWAYS!!  And remember that speaking up for yourself is putting good energy toward all women speaking up for themselves Everywhere.  It's a World Karmic bank deposit :)

Rock on,

The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity. The fears are paper tigers. You can do anything you decide to do. You can act to change and control your life; and the procedure, the process is its own reward.
